Beer Rice (Arroz com cerveja)

Ingredients

1 small grated onion
5 tablespoons vegetable oil
100 g chopped sausage (salsichão)
1 1/2 cups rice
1 1/2 cups light beer
2 beef bouillon cubes
2 1/2 cups boiling water
8 pitted black olives

Where to find ingredients

You can find these ingredients at local supermarkets or butcher shops. If you cannot find 'salsichão', a high-quality smoked pork sausage serves as an excellent substitute.

Preparation method

  1. Sauté the grated onion in oil in a saucepan.
  2. Add the chopped sausage and brown it lightly.
  3. Add the rice and sauté well for a few minutes.
  4. Pour in the light beer, the beef bouillon dissolved in the boiling water, and the chopped olives.
  5. Mix all the ingredients together.
  6. Cover the pan and cook over low heat for approximately 15 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed.
  7. Serve hot.
