1/2 onion
1 garlic clove
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon wheat flour
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
1/2 teaspoon cumin

200 g green beans (about 20 pieces)
1/2 onion
1 garlic clove
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon wheat flour
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 cup water
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Where to find ingredients
Look for ground beef, green beans, onion, garlic, olive oil, flour, paprika, cumin, and seasoning in the meat counter, fresh produce section, and baking aisle of supermarkets or local markets. If needed, substitute plain all-purpose flour for wheat flour.
Preparation method
- Remove the meat from the refrigerator a little before you begin so it can reach room temperature
- Bring the water to a boil over low heat
- Wash the green beans well
- Trim the ends and cut them into 1.5 cm pieces using a diagonal cut
- Dice the onion into 1 cm cubes
- Peel and finely chop the garlic
- Heat a large pot or skillet over medium heat
- Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and spread the meat in small portions across the pan
- Let the meat brown without stirring for 1 minute
- Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle the wheat flour over the meat
- Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally so the pieces separate and brown evenly
- Transfer the browned meat to a bowl and set aside
- Keep the pan on the heat and add the remaining olive oil and the onion
- Add a pinch of salt and sauté the onion for 2 minutes until softened
- Add the green beans to the pan
- Season with salt and pepper and sauté for 2 minutes until lightly browned, keeping a crisp texture
- Add the garlic, paprika, and cumin
- Sauté for 1 more minute until the spices release their aroma
- Pour in the hot water little by little while scraping the bottom of the pan with a spatula
- Return the ground beef to the pan
- Cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens
- Serve immediately
Observations
This dish is a great choice for everyday meals, balancing the protein from the beef with the crispness and freshness of the green beans. Follow the instructions to make sure the meat browns properly before you add the vegetables.
