Ingredients

3 tablespoons oil
2 medium onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 kg beef (such as eye of round or sirloin), cut into small cubes
1 bay leaf
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
1/2 cup tomato puree
4 cups water
2 beef bouillon cubes
1/2 cup dry red wine
1 green bell pepper, chopped
500 g small pearl onions

Preparation method

  1. Heat the oil in a pot and sauté the chopped onion with the garlic
  2. Add the cubed beef
  3. Add the bay leaf and pepper
  4. Sauté everything until the beef is well browned
  5. Pour in the water and add the beef bouillon cubes
  6. Stir well until the bouillon is completely dissolved
  7. Incorporate the tomato puree
  8. Add the red wine
  9. Add the bell pepper
  10. Mix all ingredients and cook for 30 minutes
  11. Finish by adding the small pearl onions
  12. Cook for another 10 minutes before serving
