German Apple Tart

Ingredients

300 gr all-purpose flour
200 gr butter
100 gr sugar
1 egg yolk
2 tablespoons red wine (divided)
6 tart red apples (1kg)
100 gr seedless white raisins

Where to find ingredients

You can find all-purpose flour, butter, sugar, eggs, red wine, fresh apples, and raisins at your local grocery store or supermarket in the baking and produce aisles.

Preparation

  1. Beat the butter with the sugar until a homogeneous cream is obtained
  2. Add the egg yolk and one tablespoon of red wine to the mixture
  3. Incorporate the flour gradually
  4. Work the dough until it is uniform
  5. Note that the dough will have a slightly oily and sticky consistency
  6. Divide the dough into two parts, one equivalent to 2/3 and the other to 1/3 of the total
  7. Let both portions rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes
  8. Peel the apples and cut them into medium-sized slices
  9. Mix the sliced apples with the remaining tablespoon of red wine and the raisins
  10. Steam the mixture until the apples become tender
  11. Cover the bottom and sides of a springform pan with the larger portion of the dough
  12. Spread the apple filling over the prepared base
  13. Use the smaller portion of the dough to create thin ropes
  14. Place these ropes over the filling to create a lattice pattern
  15. Bake in a medium-temperature oven until the top of the tart is golden

Notes

This traditional dessert combines a buttery crust with a bittersweet filling of apples and raisins. It is an excellent choice to accompany coffee or to serve on special occasions.
