500g all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoons oil or melted lard
1 tablespoon white vinegar
200ml warm water

Where to find ingredients

All ingredients can be found in the baking or pantry aisle of local supermarkets or general grocery stores.

Preparation

  1. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl
  2. Create a well in the center of the flour
  3. Add the oil or lard and the vinegar to the center
  4. Gradually add the warm water
  5. Mix by hand until the dough stops sticking to your fingers
  6. Transfer the dough to a smooth surface
  7. Knead vigorously until it reaches a smooth and uniform texture
  8. If the dough feels too firm, add a few drops of water
  9. If it feels sticky, sprinkle with a little more flour
  10. Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes
  11. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin until it is very thin
  12. Cut into desired shapes
  13. Add the filling of your choice
  14. Seal the edges well to prevent them from opening during frying
  15. Deep fry in hot oil until golden
  16. Drain excess oil and serve immediately

Notes

Prepare this homemade dough for crispy, non-greasy pastries. The secret to success is kneading the dough thoroughly and rolling it out as thin as possible before frying.
