Plantains are usually found in the produce section of most supermarkets or at local fruit and vegetable markets. They are also commonly available at Latin American or international grocery stores. If you can't find plantains, firm, less ripe regular bananas can be used as a substitute, but the texture and sweetness will be different.
Preparation method
- Cut the plantains lengthwise and then in half
- Fry the pieces in a little margarine until they are soft and golden
- Arrange them in a serving dish, cover with sweetened condensed milk and cinnamon, and refrigerate
- Serve when it is almost frozen
