500 ml milk
3 large eggs
2 cups sugar

Where to find ingredients
You can find all these ingredients at your local supermarket, neighborhood grocery store, or bakery. Choose fresh dairy products and eggs for the best texture, and use any standard white bread rolls for the base.
Method
- Melt the 2 tablespoons of sugar directly in a large bundt pan to create the caramel
- Spread the caramel evenly across the bottom and up the sides of the pan
- Cut the bread rolls into slices approximately 2 cm thick
- Arrange the bread slices at the bottom of the caramel-coated pan
- Blend the milk, eggs, and the 2 cups of sugar in a blender until the mixture is smooth
- Stir the lemon zest into the liquid mixture
- Pour the custard over the bread slices in the pan
- Place in a preheated oven and bake in a bain-marie (water bath) for 30 minutes
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before carefully unmolding
Notes
This recipe transforms simple pantry staples into a delicious, creamy dessert. The secret is allowing the bread to fully soak up the custard mixture before baking.
