Easy Homemade Plantain Farofa

Ingredients

2 green plantains
2 cups (200g) yellow cornmeal flakes
75 g butter, cubed
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Salt to taste
Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Preparation method

  1. Trim the ends of the plantains and peel them
  2. Cut each plantain in half lengthwise
  3. Cut each half in half again lengthwise
  4. If the strips are too thick, cut them into three parts
  5. Slice each piece of plantain into cubes of approximately 1 cm
  6. Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat
  7. Add the oil to the skillet
  8. Place the chopped plantains in the skillet and season with a pinch of salt
  9. Sauté the plantains for about 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly caramelized
