Cooked and seasoned beans are readily available in most supermarkets. You can find them in the canned goods aisle or, if preparing from scratch, dried beans are available in the dried goods section. Seasonings like salt and pepper are standard in the spice aisle. Tomatoes and potatoes are fresh produce found in the produce section. For seasoned beans, you can also often find them prepared in Latin or Brazilian specialty markets.
Preparation method
- Place the beans, water, and tomatoes in a blender
- Blend well until you have a homogeneous mixture
- Pour the blended mixture into a saucepan
- Add the potato cubes
- Cook over medium heat until the potatoes are tender
- Check the consistency and add a little more water if you want a thinner soup
- Taste the broth to adjust salt if needed
- Finish with black pepper to taste and serve immediately
