Ingredients
2 packets of passion fruit-flavoured jelly powder
2 cups hot water
1/2 cup passion fruit juice
2 cups whole milk
1 tin condensed milk
1 tin table cream (creme de leite)
2 cups hot water
1/2 cup passion fruit juice
2 cups whole milk
1 tin condensed milk
1 tin table cream (creme de leite)
Where to find ingredients
For the passion fruit juice and jelly, check the 'Latin American' or 'International' aisles in local supermarkets. Table cream (creme de leite) is essentially a shelf-stable dairy cream with a slightly lower fat content than whipping cream; if you can't find it under that name, it is often found in the tinned goods aisle near evaporated milk. Condensed milk is widely available in the baking or tinned milk section. If fresh passion fruit isn't in season, you can often find high-quality frozen passion fruit pulp in the freezer section of specialty ethnic grocery stores, which provides an even more authentic, intense flavour.
Preparation method
- Dissolve the contents of both packets of jelly powder in the hot water
- Stir thoroughly until every bit of the powder is completely dissolved
- Pour the prepared jelly mixture into your blender
- Add the passion fruit juice
- Pour in the milk
- Add the condensed milk
- Stir in the table cream
- Blitz everything until you have a perfectly smooth and creamy mixture
- Pour the mousse into a serving dish
- Pop it in the fridge until it’s firm and nicely chilled before serving
