Easy Homemade Creamy Coconut Candy (Cocada Cremosa)

Ingredients

2 small grated coconuts or 1 large grated coconut
2 cans sweetened condensed milk
1 tablespoon margarine
8 egg yolks
1/2 cup cow's milk

Where to find ingredients

Coconut can be found fresh at local markets or in grated form (fresh or frozen) at most supermarkets. Sweetened condensed milk, margarine, eggs, and milk are widely available at grocery stores.

Preparation method

  1. In a saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk and margarine over low heat
  2. Stir continuously until the mixture begins to pull away from the bottom of the pan
  3. Add the grated coconut to the pan and mix well
  4. Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the milk until dissolved
  6. Off the heat, gently fold the egg yolk and milk mixture into the sweet mixture
  7. Grease a baking dish with margarine
  8. Pour the coconut candy batter into the greased baking dish
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at low temperature for approximately 20 minutes
  10. Watch carefully to prevent the edges of the coconut candy from burning during baking

Making it at home is a wonderful way to enjoy this artisanal treat, perfect for dessert or with a cup of coffee. This recipe focuses on a creamy, easy-to-make version, ideal for kitchen beginners.

The preparation is relatively simple but requires attention to detail to achieve the perfect consistency. The main ingredients are coconut, condensed milk, and a touch of fat, which together create a rich and flavorful base.
