Where to find ingredients
Sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk are readily available in the dairy or baking aisles of most supermarkets. Regular milk is also standard in the dairy section. Sugar is found in the baking aisle. If you're looking for specific Brazilian ingredients not found in regular supermarkets, try specialty Latin or international food stores. Preparation method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C)
- In a blender, beat the eggs, condensed milk, and milk for approximately 3 minutes, until a homogeneous mixture is obtained
- In a flan mold with a central hole, prepare the caramel
- Place the sugar in the mold and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally until melted and forming a caramel
- Spread the caramel all over the inside of the mold
- Pour the blended mixture into the caramelized mold
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes, or until the flan is golden and firm
- Remove from the oven and let it cool completely before refrigerating
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight, to set well
- To unmold, run a knife around the edges and invert the mold onto a serving plate
