Where to find ingredients
Sweetened condensed milk and regular milk are widely available in the dairy section of any supermarket. Eggs can be found in the produce or dairy sections. Sugar is a pantry staple found in the baking aisle. Caramel making is a common technique in Western baking, and flan molds are readily available in kitchenware stores or online.
Preparation method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) for 10 minutes
- In a blender, beat the eggs, condensed milk, and milk for approximately 3 minutes, until a homogeneous mixture is obtained
- In a fluted tube pan, prepare the syrup
- Place the sugar in the pan and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally until melted and forms a caramel
- Spread the caramel all over the inside of the pan
- Pour the blender mixture into the caramelized pan
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 40 minutes, or until the flan is golden and firm
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely before refrigerating
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight, to set well
