1 bottle (600 ml) cachaça
600 ml water
500 g sugar
Peel of 2 oranges

Where to find ingredients
You can find cachaça, fresh ginger, oranges, lemons, apples, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and sugar at most supermarkets and specialty food stores.
Preparation method
- In a large saucepan, add the sugar, orange peels, lemon peels, ginger, cloves, and cinnamon sticks
- Place over medium heat and stir occasionally until the sugar begins to melt and caramelize lightly
- Carefully add the cachaça and water to the saucepan
- Mix well to dissolve the caramel
- Let the drink cook over medium heat for about 20 to 25 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld
- After cooking, strain the liquid to remove the spices and peels
- Add the chopped apple to the strained quentão
- If desired, keep warm over low heat before serving
