Ingredients

12 ears of corn with husks
2 teaspoons of salt
1 tablespoon of margarine
1 cup of milk
3 tablespoons of grated Minas cheese or Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon of sugar

Preparation method

  1. Carefully remove the husks from the corn ears
  2. Reserve the most beautiful and intact husks for making the wrappers
  3. Cut the corn kernels off the ears using a sharp knife
  4. Place the kernels in a blender and blend well until you obtain a pureed mixture
  5. Add the milk to the blended corn and process again until the mixture is homogeneous
  6. Pass this cream through a coarse sieve to remove excess fiber
  7. Transfer the sieved cream to a bowl
  8. Incorporate the salt, sugar, and grated cheese into the mixture, stirring well
  9. Wash the reserved husks under running water
  10. Shape small forms (pouches) with the husks
  11. Distribute the corn cream inside each husk pouch
  12. Close the pamonhas by folding the ends and tie firmly with kitchen twine
  13. Place the pamonhas to cook in a pot with boiling water
  14. Cook for approximately 10 minutes
  15. Remove from the water, let drain, and serve hot or at room temperature
